Still cant get the horn working - FIXED!

I couldn't get my horn to work after removing the steering wheel but if I touched the wire to any of the contacts it did work. I had pushed the horn pad on but only to the first set of detents and needed to give it another shove to get it to lock on all the way.

DDH - does the horn unit work? Try connecting 12v across it and seeing what happens. (Be warned, they are quite loud close-up!) Oli.

As the title says, I can't get the horn to work. It used to but seems to have just stopped for whatever reason.

The horn pad is connected properly and the contact is clean.

Pressing the bad causes the relay or whatever it is to 'click'. However the horn does not sound [:'(]

Do I need to buy a new horn or what? Im not sure what to try next and I cant seem to find a decent diagram showing the wiring set up.

Any help greatly appreciated as always.

Its definitely pushed on properly as the relay clicks, its just that the horn doesnt sound.

Im not sure if it works. If the relay clicks then i presume the problem must lie with the horn side of the equation. Im a newbie when it comes to electrics so im afraid you will have to explain how i go about connecting 12v across the horn unit. Do I just need to get a twelve volt battery and a couple of wires? apologies for my noobness [&o]

Should only need 1 wire from the positive terminal of the battery to the horn - effectively replacing the wire to the horn button

The horn will 'earth' through the car body, so my bet is the bolt that holds the horn on to the body and is probably the earth to the car body is rusty so it has a bad earth.Take it off clean it up and it should work.

I will give that a try too. Cheers!

When I first owned that car the horn was disconnected, I guessed after I reconnected it (its in front of the passenger wheel), that it was taken off because if you really lent on the after market steering wheel it would sound. When I sold it the after market wheel was still on (with original in boot). It could be the connection had just popped off though and its happened again. Tony

The aftermarket wheel has been replaced by a stock one. I have managed to get the thing working again. I just moved the adjusting screws in the horns and voila! God knows what caused it to stop working. Cheers for all the tips fellas.
