Still not got round to it yet.....

Driving it that is [8|]. Still stuck in the garage and hasn't turned a wheel since I brought Him home (February I think [8|])! Well, that's all about to change! I have phoned Jon Mitchel's Garage four times now and have left messages with various people that I want to bring the car down for some serious work but, neither Jon himself or anyone else has got back to me so, I have decided to send Him oop North [:D][8D]!! He will be leaving around the end of this month (for the first session) and, returning roughly four weeks later. I will then be able to start driving Him in earnest (weather permitting).

I have a question to ask you good folk. Can anyone recommend a good car transport firm that will be able to transport my 968 from Brighton (Saltdean), up to the North of England? This could possibly result in a return journey if I can't find the time to go and collect Him. A recommendation from someone in the know would be greatly appreciated [:)]. Thanks chaps.

Pete' (Ex Skyline).

I believe a certain Mr Spear of 964RS Reg Secretary fame may run a car transport service - based in Surrey.[;)]

Not to worry with the contact number for Mr Spears Alan, I have just dug it out in "Porsche Post" (it does have it's uses after all [:D])!
I will give him a bell in the morning. Thank you very much for the "Heads Up"! [:)]

No not Hartech Paul [;)]. Does Mr Spear have a contact number Alan? [:)]

4 or 5 years ago I got the same treatment from JMG, not returning calls or replying to emails. When Jon found out he wasn't impressed and gave me a good deal on a part I wanted to make up for it. Try asking for him Pete, instead of relying on whoever answers the phone there ?

I actually thought Jon and I were quite good friends Paul. We went to the "Ring" together, he done a great job on the '44 Turbo etc, etc. He must of seen missed calls from me on his personal mobile phone, not to mention the four or five messages I left with Dave? who now runs the admin side of things, asking if he would get Jon to call me to discuss my requirements and, to book the car in/date etc. but, absolutely nitto! It has left me feeling rather confused to say the least, not to mention a bit disappointed because I would rather put the money in Jon's pocket. Still, never mind, it's a bit late now as I have booked the car in with another motor sport oriented, independent but, I would of rather it went down to JMG. I guess one can't always have what one want's.....[8|] [:)]

Up until 2 or 3 years ago Jon and myself had swapped loads of PM's. And he'd given plenty of good advice and some opinions about various faces on the Porsche forums. It turned out we'd grown up in the same town and knew the same people. Then he went quiet, no idea why but the forums are a poorer place without his input. I wouldn't take it personally Pete, I think it's just his way.

I haven't taken it personally Paul. I know Jon has had some serious health issues over the past couple of years. That's the reason I never forced the issue or, continued to hound him. I just would of rather put the money in his pocket, that's all. Whatever he is doing and wherever he is at the moment, I wish him the very best of luck and, the very best of health. [:)]

a friend of mine was just given the real run around by JMG and a huge bill that when I read thru it there was lots of double charges and stuff,

not sure Jon has his finger on the pulse at the moment

I think there's more money to be earned for less workshop time with watercooled Boxster/996 type cars these days...

I've heard that from a couple of people lately Martin. I must say that when Jon isn't around (he has had some serious health issues recently) I start to feel nervous/anxious when dealing with some of his other staff members. Then again, I shouldn't really be worrying as, they never get back to me anyway . Such a shame because what Jon doesn't know about our cars, you could fit on a postage stamp!!

Did your friend with the huge bill contest it/complain Martin? Or, does he have so much cash that he suffered it in silence? Surely he couldn't let double charging go? [:(].
