stone chip guard removal

Has anyone removed their stone ship guards to fit new ones?

I am worried that when i try to remove them that the paint will come off too.

My bodyshop man had to take a sander to mine. He says they were a nightmare, but probably WURTH have something that removes them expensively...

I used a hairdrier and then petrol to get the last of the glue off. The paint should be fine, but having said that when I took the side rubbing strips off they were a nightmare and some lacquer came with them. They don't use the same adhesive as the stonechip protectors, though.

thanks guys put my mind at rest, ill get the wifes hair dryer out then ;)

and then where is the best place to get new ones? they are very pricey from porsche

I'm probably wrong, but I think the only source for White ones is from Porsche themselves, but i hope someone corrects me on this as I need a set too!
Best regards,
Peter.

Do white cars really have white coloured stone guards as has been mentioned elsewhere? And if so, which white? I mean, they couldn't perfectly match both apline and grand prix white.

I'm sceptical because my alpine S appears to have original, yellowing, clear stone guards.

Mine definately has white coloured ones (except on one wheel arch where an OPC messed up the order) and so I can confirm the white coloured ones are infintely preferable, the clear one has yellowed badly and looks nasty compared to the others. I've not seen one off the car but I guess they are white tinted rather than solid white hence the ability to match with various shades, but couild be wrong.

On an unrelated issue has anyone ever seen a comparison of the different Porsche whites, I'm very interested in seeing how they all vary.
Best regards,
Peter

Stevie on Titanic was looking to make white ones I think. He already does the clear ones.

To be honest I can't see why you couldn't use clear on a white car even if they are supposed to be white for correctness, so long as you replace them all.

On replacements I got mine from Prestige Parts. About £45 I think and they are absolutley fine quality wise.
Clear or white is available.
