Stone Chip Protection

Has anybody considered or tried a clear vinal wrap for the badge panel and headlight covers ?
I'm fed up of picking up stone chips and wondered if this would be a solution.
Cheers

Haven't done it on my 944 but the "clear bra" type treatments work well on my other vehicles. Several makers of these products now for body and windshields too. 3M products are generally recommended. Standard advise is to seek professional installation although the 944 badge panel and headlight covers are pretty flat so shouldn't be hard to get a wrinkle free installation. I'd be tempted to cover all the painted surfaces on the front including the hood and mirror backs also. The key questions to ask supplier/installers appear to be:
- how long does it last
- how easy is it to remove (not much good if it peels paint when its time to change it)

If you decide to proceed - let us know how it works out.

Bruce - stripping down the front end over the winter so the panels will be off, seems a good idea to vynal cover the bits while off, shall let you know how it goes.

I am having my bumper, badge panel and headlight pods painted over winter. I would be interested to see how this goes.

i be having some cosmetic work in the future and would also like to see how this goes.
best of luck,,,,,

These products do work and when fitted properly are very difficult to spot. However you do need perfect unblemished, chip free paint to start with otherwise the vinyl will not sit flat and you will see the existing blemishes underneath. Definitely something to consider after a repaint.
