Hi All, hope we have been enjoying the odd summers day. Not been many, but the better weather is nearly here!!!!
I have a cracking Meridian Metalic Boxster S, of which i am very pleased with. I do though have a couple of stone chips on the bonnet and bumper, and the bumper also came with a scuff about the size of a hand. An 2 scratches on the wing mirrors that are fairly deep.
I am looking at having these taken out but someone, advised that i would be looking at a fortune, and that there are only acouple of places that do them in Northamptonshire. This is because of the Porsche paint being 90 microns thick??

Can anyone please give me some advice or tips or a good place to use and what i shall be shelling out on??

cheers

Thanks Mark thats great ill give him a call, do we know if the 90 microns think, is correct, and standard paint on more standard cars is 20-25?
Any ideas of costings??
I know without seeing the scuff and scratches etc but.........

Just dont want there to be any difference in the colour, or am i just worrying too much??

I'm afraid I don't know about the paint thickness thing - but I doubt it's too different to the industry norm.

I don't know Paul's rates - but I have seen forum members comment favourably on his work.

If there's a problem matching colour - I think he would tell you straight off.

I've done chips on my own car using a product called "Langka", but it's not easy, and if you are at all concerned I'd get someone like Paul to do it instead.

(Paul - you know where to send the cheque [:D])

As to paint thickness most cars sit around 110-125 microns. Thickness of the paint on our car and other Porsches that I've measured work out at around 115 average - some areas are slightly thinner, some are slightly thicker.

Porsche paint thickness isn't a concern in comparison to some other marques which can go as low 80mics.
