Stone Guards On Rear Wings

Maybe a daft question, but I have been looking at a very original '89 3.2 Sports Coupe in G. red without the black stone guards on the rear wings......were these not standard fitment being the Sport Pack model with the wider 16" Fuchs or was it a delete option at the time ? The car in question has not had any paint, although I have yet to make the journey to view her to confirm this.....

spot on chris - I was surprised when you said that as they all seem to have them. I bought an original 1988 carrera showroom brochure from silverstone the other week(in german) and sure enough, not a stone guard on any of the pictures!!!

They may be standard on a SSE (super sport equipment) as this is a turbo bodied car (wider arches), but not a sport which is a standard narrow body.

Just to add, the narrow body car does not seem to get stone chipped like the wide body can.

So many cars seem to have had them added that it's easy to think they came from the factory like that. Mine had them when I bought it, but I soon took them off and prefer the look without.
