Has any bourght this months GT PP? Theres an article near the front about magnetic stone guards for Porsche's that come in the same colour as the car. But the website don't work, anyone know of a company selling these, any web links will be greatfull.

Cheers

Will they supply just the one you need or do you have to buy a whole set for one side as in the photo. The OPC network used to sell individual ones, may be cheaper than the set. Or you could e-bay the ones you don't need they do get listed from time to time.

Hi Graeme, the price of £20 is just for the one I want (left rear), I think it is about £60 odd for the complete set. Had trouble finding them on ebay but will keep my eye out.

I think thats about the going rate at the mo unless you're lucky on ebay.My full set from "porscheshop" was over 60quid earlier this year.
I'm surprised they're so dear to be honest because it's not like they're made from "unobtanium".They look to me like they're laser cut much the same as any other decals and in no way cost 60 notes to produce. That said, the two back "flares" on my 944 seem to get dirtied very quickly so it's a good idea to fit them compared against a potential paint job.

Thanks for the ebay link, if what that listing says is true, the previous owner has put the guards on the wrong place!! I have two on the front arch and the big one in front of the arch. Will have to get the full set now if only just to get those ones for the inside rear arch.

Tim you can make your own like I did. I have a set of card templates made from my own car that are the correct shape and then just buy a sheet of the 3M clear helicopter tape from Trident Racing in Silverstone on 01327 857822 (just behind Weltmeister). My pricelist is out of date now but a 20" square used to be about £15 and was enough to make 2 of the large 'square' panels and 6 of the smaller curved ones. The front curves are a few inches shorter than the rear ones but the same profile

I used to make them and flog em on Ebay for up to a fiver each but I got bored cutting them all out and it was never going to turn me into Rockerfeller [:D]

i recently bought the one that fits on the front wing round the arch. Got it from the OPC and it only cost £9 plus vat.

If only I had the coordination to copy and cut out something properly without it looking like a small child has taken their safety scissors to it! Spoke to the OPC, the large rear one on the quarter panel is working out at about £30 and Graeme pointed out that I can get an entire set for that.
Thanks for the help once again.

I had the same dilemma, the original white Porsche ones were so much better but are not available anywhere. I'm just about to order some clear ones from Bert and will just change them when they yellow. I couldn't be without them judging by the amount of molten rubber blobs that need removing after a trackday, so I suspect they preserve the paint from a lot of chips too.

You can buy two foot square sheets of the material from http://www.tridentracing.co.uk/ for about £15. It's sold as 3M Helicopter Tape, ask for Bill Bray (they're a two man operation) he has supplied lots of us with pieces before.

Then simply make a template from your existing guards to use again and again. The two foot square is just about enough to make one and a half complete sets of stoneguards

Bought mine from ebay ready cut £30 the set. Supposedly guaranteed not to yellow and the same thicknesss as OEM!
