Storing a 996 C4S

I'm looking for advice, Mrs Zandy and I are going on an extended holiday next year and I will be leaving my car in the garage for about 2 months. Any advice on what to do. I already keep the battery charged with a trickle charger when not driven. Thanks

I don't use mine a great deal, and in the winter she will likely be taking a nap for several months. I've been doing a little research, so far I've found these tips:

- Clean car throughly and wax
- Cover car (goes without saying really)
- Leave windows open 1" to air the inside and not let any condensation build
- Inflate tyres to max pressure to try and avoid flat spots (since you won't be there to roll it)
- Fresh Oil
- Desiccant inside a bag in the car
- Optimiser (if your not there though, I personally wouldn't like to leave it on constantly un-attended).

You would be better with a battery conditioner than a trickle charger. Other than that, over-inflate the tyres by about 4-5 psi. If you wash it before you put it away, drive it for a bit to brake the disks dry, or you may not have disks to come back to [] I would leave the handbrake off too.

Ahh yes, you are right (leave the handbrake off) something I always do when she's in the garage, forgot about that

Vacuum out the radiators - you don't want leaves and other detritus decomposing and rotting away the rads over 2 months.

Check with your insurers whether not applying the handbrake is still regarded as the car being stored securely - they have enough excuses to not pay out, so you might find this is yet another !

Run the air con for a good half hour before storing too - to ensure all the seals are lubricated - you don't want to find all your gas has escaped during storage.
