Strange fault developed

Twice now I've had a weird thing happen in my 02 996.

I'm driving along quite happily when suddenly the interior light comes on and both windows open fully. I put the windows straight back up (it was bloody cold) and then before I could stop the interior light went out again.

First time was after about 45 mins of driving and at 60mph (it makes you jump I tell you !), the second time was this morning only 2 mins after starting the car and at the bottom of my driveway stationary.

Any ideas ?

It sounds like an alarm fault to me. It is the giving the same effect as pressing and holding the remote button on the key. Do you know a friendly specialist who could plug in a PST2 to see if there are any faults in the register, without charging an arm and leg? If you are in the Oxfordshire area I know someone who could.

Is it a cab?

There is a known microswitch problem behind one of the cab top flaps that causes this to happen.

Sounds like the ASC has cut in.
Anti Sleep Control...designed to keep you awake on long journeys !

Ro.

Not a cab, but a coupe. Good idea though.

Ran through a System 2 today - only fault found was something weird with the drivers door lock barrel where manual opening with the key doesn't work the central locking.

now booked into an OPC under the independent dealers warranty.
