strange noise when reversing

Hi Guys

ok, new problem today that you helpful people have probably seen before

when I put the car into reverse all is fine, when I start to reverse, after about 1-2 meters I hear a noise its like putting the parking break on but can not tell if thats is the noise. If i keep reversing it seams to go then come back in about another 1-2 meters

any ideas?

Possibly a handbrake shoe getting bound up backwards in a drum?

At a guess, nothing more ....

(Diagnosing it could be done by slackening off the handbrake shoes so they are well clear of the drums. Although there are probably dozens of better ways ... )

well i dont go in reverse often, so dont think i can do any harm, will probably leave alone for now.
