Strange Noise

Does anybody have some thoughts why i would should have recently stated to get a Shush Shush Shush Shush type noise from the OS Rear corner when applying the gas round tight right hand bends. ( of the hairpin type) Doesn't happen on gently curves or left hand bends and there is no knocking or rattles. It also goes away if the power is eased off but comes back if more welly is applied.

Could this be an impending bearing or bush failure or could it be tyre related? Is there any part of the rear arch inner lining that could become dislodged and rub against the tyre when there is high lateral force applied?

Regards

Have you taken the wheel off yet, to have a good look around it and the wheel arch? Would quickly confirm or eliminate the tyre rubbing scenario.

I had that problem, nothing to worry about![8D]

After replacing my real brake discs it fixed the problem, I think it was either :-

a) The inside of the disc is used as a "drum brake" for the handbrake and was very rusty, when you cornering very fast, the car it lifts the suspension higher than normal and bends the handbrake cable so applying the handbrake causing the noise.

b) Also could be caused by the inside of the brake disc been rusty and cornering fast the disc pushes against the brake pad on one side only.
Anyway, new brake discs and pads, and cleaning the calliper assy fixed my noise.

Another big thing that improved my brakes was adding the "S" brake "damping plates/pads" to my standard Boxster, not cheap but worth every penny.
Stops the "knocking" sound when releasing brake pedal (roof down its very noticeable), and now makes the pedal feel very precise, instant feedback and also the pad seems to be always pressing on the disc and may even be cleaning the disc.
Regards,
Chris.

Thanks Chris, I'll sleep better tonight.

I have the same noise from my offside rear, and it sounds as if its coming from the brakes- I only get it after turning right at a tight roundabout when the brakes are very hot. (applying the brakes stops the noise briefly)
If it is a brake/caliper problem does anybody know whether it will be covered by the original manufacurers warranty as my car is still under 2 years old ? Replacing the discs may be simple, but it isn't cheap !
