strange oil leak

Hi ,

I just got the car back from a Porsche specialist to fix a few problems, I ask them if they found any leak and they say the car is dry, they check the oil level and ad 1 litre of oil,
yesterday I parked the car on a hilly alley way (using the hand brake and sleeping a bit the clutch) , the nose of the car was up hill ,
when I came out of the car I found a patch of dark oil at the back of the car on the right...
I call the garage and I have an appointment next week to lift the car up and see where does it come from,
since 2006 the car was always dry it never leaks, ( it also had full rebuild at 80 k it s now 145 k)

does anyone had this experience, I can't really imagine the guys from the garage overfill the oil tank ....?!

thanks

Konstantin

There is a metal large oil pipe that runs along the chassis in the right rear arch you can see it behind the wheel they do tend to rust and leak it's from the oil tank, also I have known the oil level sender in the tank to leak! Have a look at the pipe! the new genuine Porsche ones are brass, fit new hoses and clips at the same time. Berny.

By dark oil, do you mean it looked like very old oil? In which case Berny's point about the oil sender could be right - it would lead to oil sitting on top of the engine for a long time and then spilled out when you parked it on a slope.

ETA - Just realized that Berny was talking about the sender on the tank (in which case look for oil on the tank) whereas I was talking about the pressure/temp sender on top of the engine (in which case feel for oil on top of the engine to the left of the air box).

Hi,

thanks for your reply,
I thought dark oil as engine oil, I will look at the oil pipe behind the the left wheel,
the sender on the tank ? how does it look like ? would you have part No so I can see what it looks like in my part file,
I will also look for oil on the left side of the air box,

Konstantin

Hi The oil pipe is behind the right rear wheel! Part no is 964 207 250 14 I think the small rubber hose is 964 207 217 00 Hope this helps yes old oil may well be black. Regards Berny.

hi,
i just mean engine oil, it was not a service they just top a up the level, i have to wait and lift the car up to see were it is coming from it seams that it only happen when I park it in front of my house where the road is sloppy and the nose of the car is up hill ( just moved there) I drove it this week and park it on flat places and no leak,
actually absolutly dry arround the top of the engine, arround the air filter, it could be the oil pipe or from a cover, it only leaks for a bit , probably because the oil is warm and thinner

will let you know asap
thanks
konstantin

could be oil lieing in the engine try its ribbed on the back and can hold oil till you park on a slope and then it runs to the back
