Strange !

I have now twice returned to find both my windows half open after locking the car ? has any one else had this problem ?

Make sure that it is not just a case of you accidentally pressing the unlock button if your keys are in a back pocket or anything. If you press and hold the unlock button the windows will go down. Press it again, and usefully, they don't go back up again :)

Yes it is odd that the windows do not auto close when car is locked. Probably another American litigation avoidance feature.

This is an odd fault also suffered by 996's. In two years it happened once to my C4. Took it in and they walk around with an oily rag muttering then say they've fixed it. On reading a number of ancient posts on this it seems to be entirely random without rhyme or reason I think.

Bit disconcerting when you've left her in the station car park all day and come home to find the windows half open!!!

There is a sporadic problem with control units in the doors, there was a post recently but I've failed to find it.
However I think this manifests itself with the window going down, and refusing to go back up!
The control unit has to be replaced to cure...[:'(]

I have had the same problem but it is very rare. Problem is that this has happened without me realising so I only found it when I came back to the car....worrying...one to be checked next service..

Thanks everyone ! It is going to reading next week for a new PCM (hopefully to resolve phone problems ) so i will get them to check then but that may cure fault anyway but was interested on the holding down the unlock key must try that one !! Brgrds

Keith, Are you getting the whole PCM unit replaced or just the phone module? What version do have 2.1? If so maybe a free route to TMC correction. NOW YOU ALL SEE WHERE I'M HEADED WITH THIS!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe a new PCM module may not be compatible with your current Sat/Nav modules software. So you may get that replaced as well, so benifitting from a working TMC feature.

Car was returned yesterday with new PCM , Phone Module and as requested the windows now do not open when you hold key down but when you lock and hold down any windows open will close but still haven't had chance to try out TMC

I've found this window problem on my own car now. Definitely not holding the key or anything, just when you come back the windows are half-way down. Mine is in next week for the PCM too, so I'll add this to the list.

BTW my horn has stopped working, anyone else had this ?

I understand this is an age/poor lifestyle issue. Eat properly and get some regular exercise.... should do the trick.

In 6 months, I''ve had this happen three times on my MY06 997 C2S. I can't rule out the possibility that I've touched the key since locking but who knows.......

Some members have said they're getting this checked when the car is serviced and may be PCM-related. Any updates please?

If you mean the windows, it's a common problem the OPC can fix in a few minutes. I suggest you give them a buzz and get booked in !

Michael, the phone's another common problem. If you have the BOSE people can't hear you because the noise-cancelling feature of the BOSE cancels-out your voice - very useful ! Most people give-up and use a bluetooth headset. There's another fix where they relocate the mic from the steering column to the A-pillar or the centre of the headlining by the interior lights. Neither is much good. The BOSE problem has no cure at the moment, even after 18 months of production...

Hi Robert
Might be a useful bit of info - when I had my Boxster, I also found that the windows were fully retracted (open) after leaving the car secure.
Began to wonder if the services of a priest were required to 'exorcise' it, before getting suggestions on the Boxster Forum (active bunch!) and taking it to local OPC under warranty, where it's demonic behaviour was witnessed, and investigations began (no, Derek Acorah wasn't in the blinkin' boot!).
Eventually problem traced to a module in the passenger door which had become defective. This was a not uncommon problem and was duly fixed by OPC without any drama - not sure why the module became u/s, but the new one did the trick and it never came back after that.
Might be a similar problem?
Hope it gets resolved for you OK.
Cheers
Rob
