Chris,
Sorry for not replying sooner - Really good idea to do this - unfortunately I can't make it because we are away for a long weekend.

I'd really like to be there to find out more ... eg what "range" they have! I noticed a couple of Saturday's ago the Tayside boys had their van on the A9 on the approach to Perth. They were in a layby at the end of a very long straight - must be almost a mile that straight. Seems to me they are after blind drivers rather than speeding ones in that location (which I guess is a very good idea - I've always thought blind folk should be stopped from driving[:)]). But it would be interesting to know at what range the camera takes the picture (not that I'd be speeding anyway).

Mark

I seem to remember being told from a previous visit to Helen Road that if they can see you they can do you

The range over which the vans can detect vehicles are dictated by the length of the zoom lens connected to the device but I would think by the time you have seen them they will have recorded your speed. They according to ACPOS can't just randomly ping vehicle, they must believe that the vehicle is speeding and the device is just confirming that suspicion. But Sundays visit will for those who are coming along, put to be all the urban myths to bed......... Or will it........ You will have to turn up and see if they will tell you [;)] lol
