Stray fan wire

Whilst removing the fan etc. to lubricate the wiper spinles I noticed something that intrigued me. There is a section of the loom which comes out of the bulkhead that ends in a 4 pin plug which attaches to the fan. Sticking out of the loom is a wire about 3" long (black with green bits I think) that has a male spade connector at the end of it. However this is not connected to anything and I can't see where it should live.

I think this may have something to do with why my fan does not work. After six years of having the car it would be nice to have a heating system which does not comprise of a wooly hat and 2 pairs of gloves! Any clues as to what this wire is for?

Here is the wiring diagram for the 69 911E/S, which is probably very similar to the 912 loom, certainly at the front of the car. The image is 1.5Mb

Black with green is the colouring for the RH indicator. Does the flasher repeater in the speedo work?

Not positive that it is black/green, that is just my memory which is sporadic at the best of times. I will check next time I go to the car.

Thanks for the wiring diagram. BTW Flasher repeater in the rev counter sometimes works on one arrow, and sometimes on both! Loose connection probably but would take me forever to find and fix. Electronocs not my strong point!

I get that one arrow at the start and then two flash togeather?? not sure but the indicator lights out side the car work fine.

Yes that black block that you say has 3 wires on is the connection to the fan of the car. Esp if it is a 69. Now it could be very easy and plug and play but it might have been removed because it does not work or it squeels when it runs.

have a look and let us know what happens mine has just backed in hmmm[&:].

another job for winter
