Strosek Side Skirts

Hi

I was looking at the Strosek site and like the look of these side skirts as there not too fussy and I think follow the lines of the car nicely.

Has anyone else fitted these or seen them in the flesh.

If so what were they like?

Cheers

Lee

see Nick I told you I would not look at buying anymore bits []

Ive seen them and I quite like them. I also quite like the Strosek rear hatch replacement; although that certainly doesnt suit most cars.

They look OK to me (amazing fro Strosek stuff which I normally think looks terrible), but they could do without the holes for my money - what do they feed? Nothing, hence they are unnecessary.

DP Motorsport do a very similar sill trim which has no hole and looks better to my eye. A mate of mine got a set from them some time back and probably hasn't got round to fitting them yet, but they did ship Gremany to UK after a bit of miscommunication to start with.

Martyn Cockram had the Stroseks on his S2. IIRC the hole was not actually a hole anyway (though of course you could easily cut one). I prefer the look on the car that Fen highlighted, but I don't think I'd ever go for it myself. I want to see when my sills start bubbling []

I agree, The DP ones look much better.

My limited experience of DP Motorsport products is very good. The quality of my (late) DPM front splitter was exceptional.

Personally I think cill covers need some work at the front with a more radical front spoiler or spliter as otherwise they can make the car look unbalanced.

I think my mate's plan is to fix the rot once and for all without worrying how pretty it looks, then hide the repair with the trims.

I didn't look at the prices. How much are the Strosek ones? They don't strike me as an outfit that has a reputation for good value exactly.

Actually I think my mate paid more like £350 for them, which I agree is still a lot, but I guess as he will be fixing his own sills and not having to spend hours making look perfect he can justify.

Strosek I dont know about, but those parts are currently up at 580 Euros FOB. Id argue that Stroseks parts being dearer (they do have a track record as a tuner of Porsches though, and as a producer of quality, if expensive parts: DP have no such thing), doesnt make the overpriced DP parts better value.

Agreed, but you didn't mention cost relating to the Strosek ones even though you admit they might be even more expensive than the DP Motorsport ones.

I haven't seen either up close, but John has confirmed the quality of a DP Motorsport part he has had so I doubt there is sufficient quality differential to justify any price differential.

580 Euros is 500 Sterling these days? I haven't been keeping an eye on it, but is the Pound really that far in the toilet nowadays?

Well you will be glad to hear Strosek are having a "Sale" !!!!

They are doing 15% off at the moment.

So that will be 506 Euros then please []

Ouch!!!

Oh and the front lip spoilers are only 415 Euros at the moment [:D]

Strosek has a long running reputation for making hideous Porsche body kits and DP has a long history making body parts for racing Porsche's. IMHO I doubt there is any company on the planet with a more credible reputation then DP for this sort of stuff, however still very expensive for some sill covers. I toyed with the idea a couple of years back but gave up on the idea for cost reasons. Once one adds painting and fitting must be getting on for the thick end of a grand.

Aha you have reminded me, same day I got the 968 rear hatch [:D]

Memory going I think.

It was on a grey S2 with front spoiler etc.

In fact I think as Paul said it must have been Martyn Cockram car

What would they look like in mint green!

Fantastic [8D]

Everything would look good in mint green [:D]

(even that white modded Turbo with the Nissan headlights and bonnet scoops)

I bought a set of Strosek side skirts 18 months ago and had them fitted to my 944 S2, The sills were checked first and found to be in good condition. The air vents at the rear were cut through my outer and inner sill and the ducts were piped to the inside of the rear arch. The parts fit well but will need trimming if you dont mod for the air vent. I would upload some pics but it says my files are too large. I found Strosek very helpful and I went to the factory to collect my sills.

Why? I don't imagine it will do any harm as such, but it sounds expensive and I can't in all honesty see any real benefit.

Host them somewhere like photobucket and link to them from here - if you put pics directly in the post they have to be too small to be worth bothering!
