Strut Brace

Hi,

Has anyone fitted a Strut brace to their Boxster or Boxster S?

Did it make any improvement and was it worth the money.

Most seem to inhibit the use of the covers. Any advice?

Thanks

Only if used in extreem conditions will a strut brace make any difference and then it arguably marginal - however psychologically they make a big difference, pretty much like fluffy dice, go faster stripes and under floor lighting

also remember if someone hits you from one side it makes the strut brace go out the other.....

I think if someone hit you on one side I think the strut brace going out the other would be the lest of your worries. [:)]

I just removed all 3 covers and there is a huge bulkhead going right across the car only a few inches in front of the 2 struts. I have to say it begs the question why one would be necessary when you clearly have a structural member doing just the same function as the strut brace would perform.

It becomes necessary when one is seeking to make some profit from selling you one of the aforementioned devices. [;)]

Agreed. I have fitted one believing it would be of benifit on track days, but to be honest, the difference is very difficult to perceive. Perhaps I don't try hard enough.[;)]

The strut brace probably will not give a performance benefit unless in extreme cases where the car is race prepared. What is does do however is give the car a much tighter feel and sharpens the steering response. Be prepared for a slight loss in comfort as the chassis flex that absorbs vibration and bumps is reduced from the addition of the brace. Covers can be refitted over the strut brace though they sit slightly higher and are not a snug fit as they were originally. Personally i think the strut brace moves the boxster closer to a cayman in driving feel.
