Studio Celebration Edition?

Hi all,

I'm still on the hunt for a 944, and thought I might go and take a look at this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-944-2-5-Lux-Studio-Celebration-Limited-Edition_W0QQitemZ160228598879QQihZ006QQcategoryZ9860QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They say that it is "believed to be one of only thirty Studio Celebration Edition models, bought into the UK to celebrate 100,000 sales of the 944". The word "believed" doesn't fill me with lots of confidence tho. Is there anyway that I'd be able to tell if it is actually what they claim, and what difference does it make anyway? All that I've been able to find about the edition is here: http://wikicars.org/en/Porsche_944

Is it just a limited edition fabric and the wheels?

Also, assuming that it turns out to be the limited edition, does that make the blindest bit of difference to the price? I'm taking my negotiating hat anyway, just want to know how much i should be looking to get them down to.

Thanks again in advance for the help.

Yes it did exist, and no it doesn't really make a blind bit of difference.

According to Peter Morgans book the only difference between it and a normal 2.5 Lux was it had grey and maroon checked cloth with vinyl bolsters on the seats, it had the optional Teledial wheels and was only available in black or silver.

Whilst a turbo is a nice idea, I think that the bit of extra cash, and the extra insurance cost would leave me with no money to fix any issues that came up. With the price of petrol and servicing on top, I've pretty much discounted the turbo until I get a decent pay rise!

I do agree, and wouldn't pay that much for it...

Any idea what level I should be aiming to negotiate them down to?

I can't see it being worth more than £2500 tops. You need to know the usual - belts / clutch / water pump. Luxs come up from time to time on PistonHeads for less than this that don't need the seats recovering....

Hi Ephraim,

I have 944 Celebration Edtion - 1987.
It was one of only 30 bought into the counrty to celebrate the sale of the 100,000th 944.
Equipped with a host of extras & bigger alloys than normal.
Let me know if your car came with a role of seat cloth !

Andy,

Nice pics! A couple of points where mine and yours differ - my door kicking strips are silver; the alloy centre bosses on my teledials are coloured and at some point in the past the luggage cover has gone awol or broken, so I have a roller style one attached.

Still I love the Zermatt silver, and of course, the way that it drives!
