won't start. :(

sommetimes it ill and it'll run fine till i turn it off.

so i'm guessing it's electrical.

the dme relay clicks when you pull it out/in (igg on).

i have put an immobiliser on it, but don't think it is that.

how do i get to check at the fuel pump?

is it in the tank, with an access point under the rear seats?

if it is an engine sensor (ie crank position sensor) how will i be able to tell?

what are other 'poientials'?

ta. :(

What model 944 is it?

On my '86 lux the fuel pump was under a cover held on by one of the tank straps, easy to get to but a pig to refit. PET will always give you a good idea of what fits where.

Relay clicking may not indicate a good relay as it activates several circuits - bypass the relay by using a 3 way jumper lead and you will hear if the fuel pump is working as the jumper permanently wires the fuel pump. This has been mentioned on soooooooo many other threads that you should be able to find the details easily, but in simply terms, connect all 3 large connectors together.

Another search under crank position sensor will tell you all you need about that possibility.

Might be the igition switch has broken - also seems to be a common fault on old 944's

Don't get angy, get a multimeter [:)] (plus a copy of the workshop manual). Alternatively , have a look at 944online who have a decent no-start guide.

it's a 89 2.7.

and there is no fuel pump noise.

the starter motor works great though!

a day off work tomorrow me thinks.

out of intrest, hw much are fuel pumps? i'm guessing £120ish.
