New Engine gives more power and better fuel consumption. Gen2 C2S up to 381bhp (385hp). Gen 2 C2 up to 345hp.

what exactly are the diffrencies between a Gen 1 & Gen 2 car? [:-]
Just to expand a little on Gary's post [;)]

Direct fuel injection - Carrera 355 hp and "S" 385hp.
PDK option
Improvements to PASM - a much nicer ride in both modes
Bi-xenon lights
PCM 3 touch screen, Bluetooth, Universal Audio Interface with iPod compatability

Cosmetically; new rear light cluster, new front bumper with daytime running led lights. Larger door mirrors and new wheel pattern. New centre console as PCM has touch screen so less buttons.

Gen I - RMS leak still a feature, carried forward from 996 [:(]
Gen II - Feature removed (Fixed by redesign)!

HI I HAVE AN EW GEN II 2S CABRIOLET PDK, DO I HAVE TO RUN IT IN? PORSCHE TOLD ME NOT REALLY, SALESMAN TOLD ME TO NOT GO OVER 4000 REVS UNTILL 10000 MILES?[:)]

Rightly or wrongly I went by the manual and didn't give it the full beans till 1800 miles or so, I think it is? Think the salesman was having a laugh then! I also gradually build up to max revs rather than go from 4000 for 1800 miles and then red line the next day. The way they drive these at the PDE from new I don't think in all honestly running in really matters much these days![:D]

I thought the 4000rpm was for about a 1000 miles ?? thats what I did anyhow...[&:]
The engines have been ran on a test bed before they even go in the car, however the bearings and brakes are all pretty new and settling in to their 'tollerences'
More damage to be done by labouring the engine- too much load...

The 4000rpm wasn't too much trouble on the Autobahn though [;)]
