Suitable car alarm

I've just realised that the ageing aftermarket alarm on my newly bought 964 doesn't actually work. Consequently, I've got about 100 miles of spaghetti under the dash that does absolutely nothing - though fortunately the aftermarket immobiliser is ok. I'm going to see if I can get an auto electrician to remove the debris but I then need a new alarm system. Firstly I thought these cars had a factory fitted alarm system anyway or was it an option? Presuming I need a new system, has anyone got any recommendations? There seem to be a lot of cheap & nasty ones out there.

Autowatch -about four hundred quid -alarm and immobiliser with remote arming and central locking.

Clifford Concept 300. Thatcham one alarm and immob.Remote arm/disarm + w/central locking - £350ish depending where you get it from.

Toad A1606 has similar features to other systems and can be purchased for £275.00 in my experience the Clifford system was not as reliable.

Never had any issues with any of the Thatham approved Cliffords. Now on my third in ten years on three diff. cars.

Had some with the basic alarm only cheapo Clifford though.
