Sun-roof wind deflector

Hi All

A question about the sun-roof wind deflector that pops up when the roof slides back.....

In the center of it there is a smaller spring loaded flap which sticks up further into the air flow. Apart from creating lots of wind noise it doesn't seem to serve any purpose. I've tried tucking it in by hand and it seems much better - I've always thought the sun-roof was too noisy.

Has anybody removed it? Are there any reasons that would make removing it a bad idea?

Any advice is much appreciated - as always! [;)]

Steve,

Mine has been missing ever since I've had the car. Indeed, it was some time before I even noticed it on other cars. The only bit of advice I can offer is that you cannot buy that bit on it's own - you have to buy the whole deflector mechanism at around £60!!! Been there - didn't do it!!

Best regards

Dave

The extra tab cuts buffeting inside the car at speeds up to around 50/55mph. At around 30/40 mph in my car the buffeting is extremely unpleaseant as it causes a low frequency vibration in the air in the cabin which threatens to burst eardrums if endured for too long. I agree that at hugher speeds the tab is a pain so I just flick it into the down position.

I certainly would not remove it under any circumstances.

Thanks very much chaps.
I'll leave it in place and do what RLW says and fold it down each time.
Cheers

Steve
