Sunday Run and Lunch – 11th June

A social run and lunch has been organised for Sunday 11th June in order to exercise your pride and joy albeit in a relaxed manner.
It will cover 60-70 miles using some of the best driving roads along the Northern edge of the Chilterns and across the Vale of Aylesbury. Duration is anticipated to be between two and two and a half hours.
Start venue: The Black Horse in Chesham, our regular club night venue. Meet from 10 a.m. coffee available
Finish and lunch venue: Turweston Aerodrome near Brackley, dedicated parking available. Facilities are excellent and not dissimilar to Denham with views of runway and flying operations etc.
There will be neither a fixed start time nor finish time but we would suggest leaving the Black Horse no later than 11 and arrive for lunch between 1 and 1.30 but NO LATER than 2.00. Be prepared to cut some of the route if you get lost or are driving too slowly.
The Flight Deck Café at Turweston offers a Sunday Roast alongside their regular menu, details can be found on their Facebook page or at www.turwestonflight.com. The Roast Lunches will need to be booked in advance by contacting the café on 01280 705400 and mentioning PCGB. There will be a limit of 30 roasts on a first come first served basis, booked at the latest a week before the event. The normal menu will also be available on the day.
Based on the foregoing there will be a limit of 20 cars for the event. Your places can be reserved on a first come first served basis, before booking lunches, by contacting: Ann Foster, annfoster52@btinternet.com or 07778236044. Entry is free!
Route information will be handed out on the day and progress will involve some map reading ability. You will need a copy of OS Landranger 1:50,000 sheet 165. These are available for about £6 on line, try Dash4it.co.uk or about £9 in the shops. Deft use of a satnav may also suffice but the map is recommended. The route info will consist simply of locations to be passed through and while these will indicate a logical route there will be alternatives! There will be approx 6 waypoints with info to be recorded to confirm reasonable compliance and a small prize for complete info together with lowest mileage.

It was a great 60 mile (62 for me as I had some unplanned U-turns) treasure hunt with a fantastic route.

Thanks Martin and Ann for organising.
