Sunroof and windows failed - help!

Hello all, both windows and the sunroof have suddenly failed on my car.

The fuse in the main box is fine. I've managed to open the roof manually just to survive in the car as it gets rather hot in there at this time of year!

What is the obvious culprit I should be looking for here

According to my Bentleys manual there is a relay behind the oil pressure gauge. Is this a common failure

Any advice much appreciated.

The Bentley book is incorrect. The relay for the windows is behind the Clock/Speedo as part of a cluster of 3 or 4 relays together. (ie the other end to were the Bentley book reckons it is). I think the same relay is used for both the sunroof circuit and the windows so I would try fitting another relay. I bought mine 2nd hand as to buy new I think they are rather pricey. Hope you get it sorted out. I would also suggest changing the fuse for new one just to guarantee a good connection.

Thanks for the reply. I think I've fixed it! The wiring diagrams in Bentleys are excellent and showed that the fuse was after the relay. I therefore connected a lead from the battery to the fuse holder and everything worked! So removed the relay (exactly where you said it was) and tested that - no joy. Took the cover off and found that the contacts were stuck open (actually stuck to the plastic mount). Freed this off and re-tested OK. Re-installed and all working correctly. Think this may have been caused by the fact that my sunroof switch sticks in the closing position and I have to manually return it. I think I must have left it for a few seconds last time I closed the roof so that the contact in the relay got hot and glued itself to the mount upon release? Must sort that switch and fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.
Cheers,

Peter
