Sunroof doing odd things

Why is it that things that have worked absolutely fine for years do odd things when you put a car up for sale?

Currently the roof will retract and relock at position 2 on the ignition but won't open and does nothing at posn 1.

I knew it was a mistake taking the roof out for the first time at the weekend investigating the electrics as per Clarks and yes since I know have unequal "prongs" and the roof won't open manually I assume I have stripped one set of cogs. 2 new sets arrived from Bert.

I'm a little reluctant to start poking further as I imagine I'll just make it worse but if someone would like to see the car then it will be fixed before it leaves.

I thought the ad was quite good but I've had about as good a response as Colin129! Not the best time to sell a car which is a shame as it really isn't bad at all.

That's a shame David, and reminds me when I walked somebody to the office car park so he could take my previous BMW out on a test drive prior to purchase, only for me to find a puddle of oil under the engine. Luckily the BMW dealer admitted fault, fitted a new oil filter and he subsequently bought it.

Meanwhile I'm heading back to Wilts this weekend in the S2 so give me wave if you see me. It's a big county, but you never know!

Just don't do it too quickly - the speed Nazis in Wiltshire are some of the worst in my experience.

Too many bikers on the A4 unfortunately, especially at the weekends! It is great fun in the Caterham (and the 944!) when the BIB aren't looking mind.
Try not to flatten too many hippies along the way.
If you are going to find yourself up towards Lyneham (not that far from Marlborough) stick a post up and I'll keep an eye out.

Spotted a J reg S2 going into Swindon this afternoon - could have been black was it you James?

Hi David

It wasn't me. I did a few laps of Marlborough, tightened the wheel nuts in the Waitrose car park as I hadn't done them to the right torque setting, but never got as far as Swindon. Good to hear there's a few of us about though.

Cheers

James
