Sunroof microswitch

I have traced the cause of my sunroof not opening to the microswitch between the two sun visors. I think it detects that the sunroof is fully closed. Anyhow I believe the company that makes the microswitch still exists and makes an equivalent product that should drop straight in. I'm not sure they will sell them in individual units, anyone else need/want one?

Barks,

Interesting. I had exactly the same issue last week (and wrote a thread on it.) The switch in question is a very standard microswitch, and you'll be able to buy one for pennies from Maplins and the like.

But, in my case, the switch was fine but had gone out of adjustment. ('Adjustment' is a bit of a posh term; essentially the lever on it was slightly bent!) You can get the old switch out dead easily (lever the triangular cover off - yes, it feels brutal but it just clips on), and remove the screw underneath it. You'll find it a breeze from there, and I'd be a bit surprised if the switch really has failed, it's probably just gone out of adjustment - as mine did.

Oli.

I took the switch right out and tested the contacts with the switch fully depressed and it seems it has failed totally. I have bypassed the micro switch for the mean time by shorting out the two wires. The sunroof works fine except that it doesn't have a stop for fully open so you have to be careful when opening.

Thanks for the offer Alasdair and I may take you up on it. I will see if I can get a new replacement first though and I will then add it to the thread about replacement spares for our cars.
