sunroof problem

I know this must be fairly common, but after a few years away from 911's, I can't recall the remedy. The power sunroof on my newly acquired 84 coupe no longer works, but I can hear the motor working; I know the zip in the rear of the headlining is for access to the workings but can anyone advise wqhat's probably wrong and how easy it is to cure. I am fairly capable mechanically, so can do most things.

Also, the clock doesn't work - replace? Fuse? Connection?

and drivers door window is very slooooooooow.

Any assiatance with advice on any of the above will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rod,

Well done for getting back to 911s ... why on EARTH did you move away in the first place?! [;)]

When my sunroof didn't work (which was since I bought it in April), it turned out to be a snapped cable. Fairly straightforward to fix, the whole mechanism accessed from the zip in the headlining - just be aware that if the headlining is very old then it may be quite fragile and could tear if too much pressure is put on it. The other thing I'd remind you of in case you had forgotten/didn't know, is to clear the drainage holes for the roof, or you'll have a leak when it rains!

Can't offer any advice on the other issues, but there are loads here who can. [:)]
