Sunroof Repair

Yes It is correct, I spent hours trying to undo it to No avail, I do not know if it is available or replaceable

I think you just push the collar in whilst pulling the tube out. Don't see why you can't use any suitable 8mm push fit connector TBH

I've finally got round to fixing the sunroof mechanism on my 86T which has the later roof latch mechanism and the early drive with the track with 2 microswitches at the end. The sleeve for the drive cable is joined to the drive mechanism by what looks like an in line 8mm pneumatic push fit connector the internals of which have cracked and broken up. Is this correct as Porsche intended and if so can I get the connector (I couldn't find it on PET)
Thanks
Mark

This might be useful if anyone has the same problem where the connection between the drive and cable guide tube falls apart. Picture shows my £2.15 ebay 8 mm pneumatic fitting in place of the black plastic original - seems to work perfectly.

That was probably my fault on my 86 Turbo sunroof before i sold it, i knew the motor and winding gear was fine as i ran a supply to them, relay and console switch were replaced also, along with swapping the 2 direction relays Festo pneumatics will knock the fittings out 10 a penny. Good shout there as i will bet that that was the problem with mine. This needs to go in FAQ.

Doh ! just re re read the thread i have proven that my drive assembly was okay.....................gets coat [:D]

Go into any Plumber's Merchants ie Plumbcenter, Grahams, PTS and, ask for "John Guest Speedfit" 8mm connectors. Work a treat on ALL 8mm pipe.....[8D][;)]!!

Yep wish I'd known that much earlier, there was me thinking it was some weird bespoke connector. Hooked everything up and guess what? Sunroof goes up and down for the first time in 4 years. Another job crossed of the (long long) list.
