Sunroof seals

Hi guys

The cold over the last few weeks doesnt seem to have done my outer sunroof seal much good at all and over the last few days i have seen it become visually cracked more and more.
I have been looking at them and surprised at there price, but is there any difference between early and late cars? As I keep seeing them advertised at either early pre 86 or S2.

Cheers,

Will

had my s/roof seals changed a while back before problem was diagnosed to a crack in s/roof plastic pipe,,it seems rubber bits are pricey,,i was quoted for pass side door rubbing strip that goes width ways and it was around £75

Ye tis mad £75 for some rubber but ho hum :/ Do you know when you bought the seal if there isa difference between the early and late cars as some things seem to indicate? I wouldn't have thought there was and was just going to buy one until Ive seen different things. Cheers

Yes they changed, and so did the sunroof mechanism. I cant remember what the differences are now though, sorry (Im not even sure that I could identify old and new mechanisms and they were quite different, let alone seals). Id suggest speaking to someone like Paul Higginson (PH Sportscars) as he will remember and he will be able to tell you exactly what the differences are and what, if anything can be exchanged.

Ideal thank-you :) glad I now know not to buy ones for an earlier car. weird how they changed the seals, thats something you (or at least I) would have expected to be no different because how much can you alter a roof? lol
