Sunroof switch will open but not close

Last Saturday when my wife and I were out visiting two of the local National Trust properties, I opened the sunroof at the start of the journey from the first to the second. To my horror, when we arrived at our destination and I pressed the switch to close the roof, nothing happened!

I managed to use the crank to manually close it, so the car was secure. I have since tried again, and the switch will open the sunroof, but no joy on the close side of the rocker switch.

The switch has been temperamental for a while, where I had to get my finger in the right position on the rocker switch for it to close the sunroof, which could be a bit tricky if on the move.

Given that the door windows operate, and that the sunroof will open electrically, my suspicion is that the fault is with the rocker switch, not with other parts of the electrical circuit such as the fuse or relay.

Does anyone have any similar experiences, how easy is it to get the rocker switch out for testing/replacement, is it repairable or should I just order a replacement (I am leaning towards the latter).

I don't know if it makes a difference but our 3.2 is a late 1985 RHD model and the rocker switch is under the dash on the right hand side.

Hi, sounds like your switch is the same as on my 964, First and cheapest option is just to replace the switch, shouldn't cost too much, check on ebay to see if there's a cheap second hand one there, but even a new one from Porsche shouldn't be too expensive.
