Sunroof switch

I am now on my 4th sunroof switch in 18 months. I have tried buying replacements from different suppliers but the same problem keeps occurring. Every so often the sunroof opens but will not close. It blows the fuse and keeps blowing them until the switch is replaced. I don't think it's the wiring because is all looks pretty sound so I can imply assume it's the switches. Can anyone recommend another supplier. Do I need to go directly to Porsche? Any help would be welcome, thanks.

Hi
Could be the drive motor is drawing to much power as in amps, and melting the switch contacts,
or the drive cables are too tight in the channels you will need to remove the motor and the sun roof panel
to see if the cables are free.

Some of the aftermarket stuff can be variable in quality, especially Chinese. Having said that, I would find it odd that you got four duff ones in a row if they were from different sources.

I would do what Charles suggests - look for overloading, especially if the motor sounds as if it is struggling. Mine zips open and closed surprisingly quickly, and the note of the motor hardly changes while opening or closing.

A genuine switch is £27 inc VAT, btw.

I have never seen anything other than Genuine Porsche sunroof/cabtop switches. They have recently changed supplier, hence the part now ends 01 but I would think your problem lies somewhere else as Charles says.
