Driving down the M40 thsi morning at [:)]Mph I noticed things were noiseier then they should be... slowed down and the noise stopped.. after a bit of speeding up and slowing down I discovered that the passenger side of my sunroof was "lifting off"
Are there supposed to be 2 "struts" that lift the sunroof up and down? it would appear that I only have 1..!?

Ah ha! It seems that your passenger side gear that moves the sunroof strut up and down has sheared away. If you open the sunroof does the strut stay down? Then it's probably has. Or the strut has jumped a gear tooth and it is out of place. The gears are £10 for two from www.porscheshop.co.uk. If you take off the rear head linning you can axcess the two gear boxes (one for each strut). Then you can remove the passenger side gear box and open it up to swap the gear.
Both mine went at the same time and the cable snapped and ended up under the battery in the boot! I took it the JZ Machtech, who did a fantastic job repairing my sunroof. Which now is smoother and qieter. But still leaks in heavy rain.

Thanks,

Just ordered my gears, fingers crossed that they turn up tomorrow or I'll be sticking the roof down with Duck tape for Sundays outing to Donington!

If it's dry and you can't fix it in time, just take the sunroof out for Donington and go Targa-esque

(the weight saving is worth .0025 secs a lap alone [;)])

They arrived and It took me about 30 mins to swap both of the gears and reset the roof.

See my post "Superb Service"

They had come off completly on one side and a couple were off on the otherside.

Good job I ordered 2!

Certainly not the trickiest thing I've ever done on a car but having 2 people helps when resetting the position of the "lifting levers", and also to lift the roof in and out when you are lying in the boot holding a screwdriver in your teeth.

I will however be disconecting my sunroof from the power supply..
