sunroof working intermittently

Anyone had this problem? I don't use my sunroof alot but recently i've noticed it works intermittently, well it was working intermittently but seems to have stopped working altogether now. When it works, it works fine (i.e. I don't think there is a problem with gears or the cable drive), when it doesn't work it doesn't full stop - I mean when you press the button it just does nothing, no sound of the motor trying to open it, no sound or signs of there being a drain on the cars electrical system. I guess it could either be the switch or a dodgy connection at the motor side.

Doesn't really bother me as I don't tend to use it, but I just like to have everything working.

Anyone ever had similar symptoms?

Cheers.

Hi Scott, I had this exact problem with both my lux's and it was the switch on each occasion. I was convinced it was a bad connection or wiring but a new switch (well ebay new!!) each time sorted it so thats what I would try [;)]

Good luck, theres nothing worse than something not working [:)]

i'am having the same problem with my s2.and i think that is the switch.work fine now and then.may try some switch cleaner. hope that helps carl

It sounds hopeful that it is an easy fix, thanks chap. However you know what's coming - i'll buy a new switch and it'll look shiny and new next to the others which i'll have to replace so it all looks nice.

I had the same problem and it was the switch, got a new one from OPC Bristol, part number P944.613.123.00 01 @ £34.27 (March 2007,Expensive versus Ebay), The switch is also has bright white printing on it and stands out against the other used / mellowed switches so was toying with changing with all of them but then worked out that it was going to cost circa £150 so decided against it.
When we removed the console we also found that the Porsche fitted alarm system was still running a red LED out of site under the console which was presumably draining (A small amount) of power as the Cobra thatcham alarm is piggy backing on the top of it and running its own LED - the things you find when digging around your cars innards.
