Sunroof

Can anyone tell me where to locate the micro-switch for the sunroof, and un plug it? Haynes manual says "electric sunroof" and thats it.

Thanks, Andy

There are at least two, possibly three in the boot under the left hand side rear trim carpet and one on the flap that the roof slides into at the front. Beware adjusting any of these as it is so easy to strip the gear on the motor, as the 924 has the earlier type of raising mechanism. If you are trying to remove the roof in this hot weather, insert the key into the igniton but do not switch on. "Raise" the roof and the plastic arcs retract, freeing the rear edge, then unclip at the front.

ta v much! the only reason i want to un plug them is because the sunroof keeps opening at 10mph and slipping on the gears[] so this is to stop it happening.

Thanks again,

Andy

Tape the damn thing down and don't touch it...... []

sorry, that was no help but i've given up on mine. If it's sealed I am NOT going to play with it any more, ever, ever, ever again [&:] [&:]

do you sense a bad experience in my past...... [;)]

Phil

Hi Phil,
Sounds like you have had severe sunroof problems. Mine works fine with no leaks when raised/lowered electronically. Despite the hot weather I have resisted the tempation to remove the sunroof panel manually, as I have heard some grim stories about perished seals and water ingress, when it inevitably rains.
Is your problem with the electrics, or with seals and with leaks, or both?

Cheers,
Noel.

Noel, just throw caution to the wind and get it off! [8D]

Hi Phil,
Thanks for the info. on the sunroof situation. 'Oh My Giddy Aunt' and similar phrases spring to mind!

I am off to the Dunhill shop at lunchtime to buy a motoring coat, water proof hat and some googles!

Cheers, Noel.

Hi everybody, hope you can help me with this one. Non-operation of the sunroof on my 150bhp 924S has been traced (by my local auto electrician) to the microswitch located between the sun-visors. I think they are still available from OPC but wonder if there is a preferable (i.e. cheaper) alternative source.

Over to you!

Mike

You could try PORSCHESHOP. There details areon their website www.porscheshop.co.uk They often get the same parts as an OPC but cheaper. Ifyou area PCGB member you also get 10% discount.
