super unleaded make any diffrence?

always use super in the Bogster and Cayenne and it makes a noticable diffrence on how far the car goes on a tank full of petrol..
but, so far it dosn't appear to be having any effect at all on my 944S2 either way so i've reverted to ordinary "cheap"(my tongue is firmly in my cheek)stuff for it.

just wondered what others have found

Pretty much the same. The S2 ECu is not a modern one that learns, it is static. If you fit a Blitz or ProMax chip then you will see a benefit from Optimax etc. but probably not with the standard one. My 306 is pretty much the same.

Ive used Super a number of times on my 140k S2 and seen little/no difference to either mileage or performance , I only filled up with Super yesterday because the garage had run dry of ' normal ' petrol . I will stick with with standard unleaded for the future.

Cheers
Chris

I did lots of testing with my S2 on both 95 and Super and it didn't make any difference to economy or performance. The S2 was designed for 95 and lower fuel, so unless you get it remapped for Super it won't make any difference IMHO

Since the 968 and 993 I 'think' all Porsche were designed for Super Unleaded

Its a different story with a Turbo [8D]

both the handbook, and the nice sticker on the inside of my fuel flap say that 95RON is OK. I normally use 97 or 98RON, just because of the stuf i've done to the motor.... I don't fancy things pinking at 7kRPM. but then again, with current prices, my next fill will be with 95. I can't see it making that much difference (plus the chances of reaching 7kRPM legally *cough* over here are usually only in first gear!).

I'm one hundred percent sure that pre-mods, when I used allsorts of fuels (from 92 to 102RON), I noticed no difference in economy.....

For any 944 there is no benefit from SUL unless modified. In a Turbo even with a boost enhancer only it is worth using Optimax though in my experience.

The Promax chip in my automatic 86 Lux decreased fuel consumption from 27 to 28.8mpg but only with super. With ordinary unleaded it made fuel consumption worse. Before the chip it made no difference which was used. Fuel consumption with a chip and with super is better than without a chip and ordinary. Im confused now! Also pre-86 Luxs require even higher octane fuel than the later Lux (according to the filler cap sticker anyway!), such as theQ8 super. Baffled regards,

I've noticed no difference on my 86 Lux but I always avoid super stuff anyway now as I had a Honda which was meant to have it - when i filled it up with super it wrecked the engine which had to be completely stripped down and cleaned!
