As a new-ish owner I wonder if anyone has experience with this. The manual says to use 98 RON, but that 95 RON will work fine cos the engine management compensates. I ended up putting 95 in it the first twice, once accidently, and the second time because I had to, and I've never really noticed any difference. Anyone notice anything?
 
For normal use 95 ron is perfectly fine. Some people swear by Optimax, but I'm not convinced - I think, in a modern road Porsche, the benefits are largely psychological. However, I do use Optimax in my Caterham, on track, where the engine is regularly revving to 7600 rpm. I'm told that, in these conditions, the engine runs marginally cooler with a higher octane fuel.
