Had a good time at the National Motor Museum Supercar Day courtesy of Lord Montagu on Bank Holiday Monday.
Lots of fine motors on display and plenty of interest from a very large crowd of the paying public.
The day commenced with a static display in the central arena adjoining the museum building. Just after 12 noon demonstrations runs were the order of the day up through Cambell Straight, bounded on either side by a thick wall of people. Speed limit was to be 60mph, but this takes just 2.9 secs. in the Turbo 'S' so I may have drifted slightly over this towards the end. []
Exhibitors were treated royally by the organisers with a dedicated marquee and free refreshments all day. We also given free access to the attractions on offer. There was plenty of time to make acquaintances with fellow drivers and PCGB was well represented (although not officially). There were a number of very interesting Porsches on display.
The proceedings culminated with the Car of the Show award, voted on by the spectators, which went to a blue Pagani Zonda. The driver, interviewed by Ford's Graham Robson, confessed he also owned a Bugatti Veyron and a Ferrari Enzo! [] He has my sympathy - it can't be easy making up one's mind which one to drive each day! [8|] Nick Mason's McLaren F1 RSR and Enzo were also on display as well as a number of other mouth-watering machines.
A great day with fine weather (for a change).
Here are some snaps of the day.
Regards,
Clive.
