Supercharge a 1987 944 2.5 Lux . . . . .

I considered it about 5 years ago, I know of one company down south who had a go in 2014, then some more in 2016
but It doesn't look like it's 100% and available from them yet? as a complete proven product / kit

Costly? of course, nothing's cheap with bespoke tuning.

The Turbo boys may be along shortly to advise an exhaust Blower is the best way forward, but I like the Charger's
immediate supply from the crank, One of my friends has a Opel Ascona with a 300bhp 2.0 16v Vauxhall Supercharged engine which is very punchy from tickover rpm and reliable, he had it set up and mapped and hasn't needed or wanted to mess with it since.

Pete Epsom of this parish would be the guy to talk too...he's been running a supercharged 944 for some time now...afraid I don't know which N/A model was used as his project car. I haven't seen him on the forum for a while, perhaps someone here has contact details that they may be willing to share.

Peter Empsons car is an 86 with an S2 motor supercharged with I believe a Dutch kit.
Basic idea is great, supercharger can fit where aircon compressor would fit. Intercooler and inlet manifolds from a Turbo can work on an 8valve.
Don't know much about the kit mentioned.

Speed force racing don't have a very good reputation....I've never used them due to said reputation ..which is a shame as they do some cool gear.....IIRC it's getting hold of them and the gear that's the problem...others may know more...

All the ones I've heard of seem to be on the twin cam models 944 & 968, unyet I'd of thought an 8 valve head would be far better
for forced induction as the 944 & 968 Turbo motors ?

Unless a Supercharger can runs out steam at higher rpm? and four valve heads assist higher RPM breathing ?

So to answer the questions !
Not commonly done pot possible. Relativelylow boost possible on standard engine due to compression ratio.
Pretty expensive and takes quite a lot of setting up.
Hope that helps....

Go for it Howard, it's about time charged 944's were explored.
3-4K I think would sort it? rattle on Augment Automotive's cage as they are the only UK company I know to of started some R&D.
