Supermarket dent & scratch!!!!!!

Hadrian

New member
Some kind person has put a scratch and small dent into the nearside front wing of my pride and joy.

I have used dent repair specialists before who do an amazing job but this will need some minor paint work as well. I remember an article a few years ago in 911 & Porsche World about a mobile specialist who did a dent repair and colour matched respray of the affected area.

Can anyone remember the name of the company or recommend a someone?

Happy New Year!

Bad luck Hadrian, when parking at Supermarkets, park over the white line and take up two bays or if you really want to add to the haterd of all Porsche 911 owners stick it in a disabled bay ! [:D]

I have used Chipsaway on two different cars (neither Porsches) and have had great success. They come with a paint mixing kit in the van and apply multiple coats plus laquer and I have really struggled to discern the difference.

Hope this helps.

I agree take up two spaces, and park on the far side of the car park. I drive my missus crazy doing this. Also drive to the top of the multistory car park and do the same, take up two spaces. Id rather pay a fine of £20 or so than have to fork out double to have the fckn dent pulled out. Other people dont give a s**t.[]

Thanks for all the advice, I will contact Chips Away and see what they can do.

After T-cutting and polishing it's not so bad in daylight, but I know its there. My wife parks in Tesco car park 3-4 times a week and hasn't had a dent, ever. Life is unfair, though I suspect some people just see a Porsche and not give a ****!

I recommend checking the alternative options first. I've recently had some paintwork done at my local Porsche approved bodyshop following an incident where a guy reversed into me in a carpark. I got some extra bits painted whilst the car was in (at my own expense) in order to tidy up a few "minor blemishes". Sadly for my wallet most of the "minor problems" turned out to be caused by Chips Away-type "smartfix" repairs done in the past.

Now I've used Chips Away in the past and they've always done an OK job. Indeed I would use them again, but not on a car like my 993! For sorting out parking dings on the runabout or perhaps getting it ready for sale they are the perfect solution. But on a car like the 993 which I cherish and plan to enjoy for many years (and also hope will maintain it's value better than most) I'll stick to getting things done properly. The quality of work done by the bodyshop was astonishing, and my only gripe is that I now want to get the remaining panels done as well! I'd had quotes for "smartfix" alternatives and ended up paying a little over double to have it done properly.

For the record the bodyshop in question is Brin Jones in north Bristol. I have no affliation to them at all, and cannot recommend them highly enough. The 993's not going anywhere else in future!

Hi,

Paul Smith - Diver944 - the 944 forum Moderator, is a ChipsAway Franchisee based in Northampton.

He would be worth contacting

Cheers
