Have you got one ? Do you know someone who has ? I am trying to put some well researched numbers on the production of Supersports with the help of the club and various Reg Secs. I am trying to locate any Supersports NOT known to the register. If you know your car is not on the register please contact me. So far I have located 2 cars not on the register .If you dont know whether your car is on the register or not I will be only to happy to check. I hope to publish all of my research in the future and put some definitive numbers on SSE production numbers. (records were never kept by Porsche)

Would like to know the chassis number and year of delivery of yours (and the other 2) if you're happy to do so. This info will not be passed to anyone and would be safer to e-mail me. I can then tell you if the car is known on the register or not.

I have one too that may or may not be on the register, it had club stickers in the window when I got it. Will fish out the numbers and mail you.

Mark.

I have one too. I can also fish out the details and let you know. Doubt very much if this one is known to the register. Cheers

Simon,

Looking at the list of the cars you've owned, out of interest, how does the Supersport compare to the newer cars? Obviously it will be slower in all ways but is it as much fun to drive? More fun? Less fun? It would be intersting to hear your opinions. Cheers

Hi Kris,
Good question, my 996 C4 was a very good car bought 2nd hand with 3k on the clock and was only sold because I wanted something before 997 S2 arrived. The S2 was something else ! Blisteringly quick beautifully engineered and fantastic to drive BUT the car did everything for me and it was a lot of money sitting in a garage just used at weekends so I looked for something special and came across my SSE. 22k miles from new and I love it. This is the car I couldnt afford in the late 80's. Offset pedals , no power steering/abs/pasm/satnav but it needs a level of driver imput that the modern vehicles dont. It gives me a bigger buzz to drive it well and being honest where other than a track can you use a top speed of 180 and 0-60 of 4.7 secs when the comparison is 150 and 5.6 and even more rewarding to drive (ps the SSE sounds quicker anyway) Imo all the modern cars are having their individuality designed out of them, you cant touch them or fix anything yourself . But I can change a belt on a 3.2 and fiddle about without invalidating a warranty. You cant compare 17 years difference in production realistically but you can compare sheer driving enjoyment/involvement and that is why I dont miss the 997
Look forward to getting the details of yours

(1 1963 E type 3.8 sold but never forgotten, 5 minis, 3 Range Rovers, 1 Lancia 2 Triumphs, 2 Audi quattro's, 2 VW's and 1 BMW Mini debadged and well tuned and brilliant to drive)

We have a SSE Targa .It may be on the Register ,that depends on Tony Corlett. However we agree it is a great drive, one can keep it on the edge, this is probably something that is hard to find on the modern stuff. Drive one if you get the chance and NO I am not offering. It is E 911 MAC if you would like to check.

Have to agree with dixhuit [:)] love the car to bits and wouldn't change it for the world.I drive all sorts of cars in my job and if asked ( which is quite frequence ) what car i would have if i could have anything within reason i always come back to a classic Porsche. The new models i'm afraid just don't get my juices flowing[] .

Database is not as up to date as I would like. And reg numbers are constantly changed by illustrious owners. Can you e-mail me your chassis number and I can check everything.
Cheers
Simon
