I need advice please

How do I know if I have a Supersport or just a std car with 491 option? What are the differences? Do the chassis numbers tell us or are they the same thing?

The car is registered 1990

Many Thanks

The Supersport was just a factory tick box option, the chassis number will just correspond to a 911 Carrera, the only way to check is by the option code on the sticker under the front compartment lid or in the service book

basically speaking a supersport is a turbo body 3.2 including brakes and running gear , but no turbo, if you have a 1990 supersport 3.2 it will be one of the last made, and rare.

If you have the 491 option then you have a Supersport. If you don't then you have a modified car. Although I believe that sometimes the paper work isn't accurate.

Other than wide body look at the brake calipers they should have cooling ridges on and drilled discs.

OK Thanks guys....Most helpful

Just trying to understand the differences between the pre 86MY cars as I believe these weren't referred to as Supersport

Are you confusing the sport and Supersport? The sport is narrow body and Supersport wide.

I think the sport name was English models only. There were probably some early wide body 3.2s that weren't supersports but I am pretty certain that name was in place by 86.

Just for my two penny worth,

Reading between the lines are you looking at that White SSE that's for sale on Piston heads ,that's registered 1990 , well just for info that's probably a 89 car , mind you for 45k , it would have to be mint

All Supersports are (491 Option) , its says in the handbook and under the bonnet on a little sticker,

Mike

The difference is the super has a large bum and is slower than a3.2 because of the extra weight
Paul

That depends on how good you at peddling!

In reality real world situations it makes little to no difference with a narrow vs wide body it is more likely to be dependant on fuel load, luggage, drivers appreciation of pies and presence if passengers.

I can't seem to post pics on here like I can on other forums. I use Photobucket with a link provided but doesn't work.

It's done 60K and doesn't have AC. And price?? Far too much but I like it[;)]

Click the bottom option of the four on Photobucket and then paste after the clicking the image button above this box - very old fashioned but we will be updating soon !

Not the neatest way but the easiest.
