You probably have M029 suspension. You can check on the vehicle Identification Label under the front lid or in the Maintenance Booklet. This is a bit of a hybrid, being 10mm lower than the standard 996, but using standard Bilstein B4 dampers.

They don't print the "M" next to the option codes on the sticker. Does it show 029?

(I)X73 would be sports suspension on a Turbo, so it doesn't look like you have that.

C16 is the UK country code, X50 is the power kit, as you know, and the others are aluminium dials and bits of trim.

hi richard thanks for that . on the service book i have no 029 on the vehicle identification my chss nu is wpozzz99z4s680815 m9670 644 a9650 10 hope this helps . the ride on the car is very hard . but as this is my first porsche i don't know how it should be thanks steve

Unless someone has changed it, then the suspension is the standard (M)029.

I agree, the ride is firm. To be honest, although I could live with it, sometimes I found it embarrassing when I had a passenger in the car. It was made all the worse by the dreadful roads we have in my area. My wife and I went to Wales for a few days a couple of years ago, and it was like driving a totally different car!

I spent quite a lot of money on new Bilstein B6 dampers, and a complete suspension refurb. Improved the handling, but didn't do much for the ride quality. Given my time again, I would probably go for adjustable dampers, although most of the kits reduce the ride height, which I wasn't particularly keen on at the time. You also have to bear in mind that it was my daily driver.

If you are considering changes, talk to Chris Franklin at Center Gravity. All he does is suspension, and he really knows his onions.

The RoW 996 turbo has M030 as standard suspension.
It's sporty but not really harsh.
The firm ride can be a result of worn out shocks.
