Suspension advice sought and taken

Bilsteins and H&R springs (plus front protection bar) plus wishbones and top mounts fitted at Tognola. Full alignment, kine toe and corner weighting to RS spec (PT's initiative, not my suggestion). Car feels great, nice and sharp, albeit at the expense of a slightly harsher ride.

Thanks for your input, fellas.

Sounds great. Looks like my suspension is also on the way out. I was considering the same setup as you, but I quite like the ride at the moment. Just how much harsher is the ride compared to the standard setup? Also dare I ask how much it costs?

Thanks.

Well the ride is firmer - no problem there - but no quite so refined in that you feel coarse surfaces more. Basically you feel much more in touch with the road and what's happening - but on occasion you might feel you don't need it! An alternative might be to fit Bilsteins but retain the OE springs, though I'm unsure what the difference would be. Anyone out there got that set-up?

I paid the cost of the springs and dampers (plus the FPB) from Carnewal, plus £400 plus VAT for fitting and alignment. All that is considerably less thatn the approx £2K that JZ would charge for something very similar.

FWIW. If I was moving to firmer springs and Bilsteins I would also want to change the front and rear anti-roll bars to stiffer ones.

Choices, choices. I guess it is time for me to take a better look at the options. Can anyone tell me the differences between M033 and M030 setups?

As you were replacing the wishbones I'm interested in why you went for the standard ones instead of the RS ones.

I'm also interested why you kept the standard roll bars as if you look at the various setups offered by Porsche from soft to firm (standard->M030->RS->Turbo) they tend to increase the size of the ant-rolls bars with every step up in firmness.

Almost entirely on grounds of cost; the Chief was pretty unhappy about my spending the money anyway. In an ideal world I would have paid more attention to detail. But as I suggested earlier, a journey far down the road to perfection was unnecessary. For day-to-day road use, what I've got will do me fine.

You don't want to retain the original springs as thy would not be a good match and you will end up with a worse drive. The ride is firmer but not uncomfortable and is much better than the OEM setup.

M033 is only lowered due to springs while M030 involves more components
