Suspension and dash lights

Hi, my first post after months of regular reading of everyone else's problems and ideas. I have an '87 LUX, and 2 questions.

Is there an easy way of getting the multi plugs off the back of the instrument panel if the handy levers have been broken off?

My other one could be more important - when turning right, the passenger side front wheel seems to scrub across the road - could this be down to the castor being wrong on that side? The steering seems to want to turn more after the first full turn right instead of still having some self centre pressure. I wondered if there wasn't enough castor on that side, and the wheel was then trying to turn under on full lock.

Any ideas?

PS after 6 months of ownership I agree with all the people who say that buying a 944 was the best and worst thing they ever did. What did I used to do with my time?

Hi Jeff

Welcome. Can't help with the multiplugs, but in terms of steering it's not a particularly complex arrangement, and the first thing I would suggest is that you get a full alignment done, preferably just after you've made sure your tyre pressures are normalised. Our cars have full adjustment, so any problems should be easy for a decent alignment shop to identify. I suspect that your castor mounts have seen better days, but they are easy to change and not too pricey. I ordered mine from Exeter OPC with the club discount.

The risk you take is paying for an alignment, to be told you need new castor mounts, then buying and fitting those and then needing to pay for an alignment again....[&:]

Look here for a decent local place to have your alignment done. http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/
