Suspension changes

Hi all,

I' m looking at changing the suspension on my 964. However, I am unsure about some details regarding the effect on insurance premiums, so thought it wise to ask you experiences first.

If I change the dampers/inserts/struts, but not the springs, and make it a like for like change. Would there be a neccessary insurance premium for this, I' m trying to persuade my insurance company that it' s not a mod, but a neccessary replacement. They however dissagree as you may gather. I could understand thier stance if I lowered it, thats a significant mod, but just replacing the dampers/inserts/struts is surely not.
Your input is much appreciated.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies thus far, however the chaps with the red telephone on wheels tend to dissagree with your appraisal. They want genuine parts fitted, or a 10% premium applies, any deviation from original is counted as a " MOD" and is therefore liable to the charge.
Even if it makes no diffference to the car, and even if it' s an apporved part change.
Jes, they are unlikely to get my business next time around after this.

I suppose that I have been lucky with my insurance companies.
I have significantly modified my 3.2 (lowered/engine mods (lots more grunt !)/brake mods/even indicator mods) and, having always told the insurance companies involved, they at no time increased my premiums for any of these.
