I’ve been advised by PARR porsche that my suspension bump stops are shot. Does anyone know if this would cause suspension metalic noise when going over bumps or could this be something else. I have already replaced the drop links. Thanks

Hi Nigel, I also have a 06 Boxster S, although a 987.1 model. A local OPC had an open day last weekend, with a free health check. During this health check, I was made aware that the bump stops were showing signs of age. Where I was shown, they were on the front shocks, on the upper half above the wide shoulder the spring sits on, are quite small in diameter, made of rubber and hollow - kind of like round bellows. They are free to move up and down independently of the ram of the shock absorber. The upper point of the bump stop might contact the under side of the suspension mount to the wing, that's about all. As it's a rubber to metal contact, most unlikely this is the cause of your metallic noise going over bumps.

What this noise might be is open to many components in your suspension - coffin arms are highly likely. How many miles has your car done? Is the noise from the front or rear?
