Suspension issues

1. Going (slowly) over speed humps I have loud creaks which, I am told, is the polyurethane bushes in the suspension arms - front and rear. This has got worse as the weather has got colder. Camtune reckon this is OK at present. The rear arms were replaced earlier this year, as were the dampers. Is it worth binning the fronts now to stop the creak? Should the rears creak still?

2. At Brands Hatch, with the big compressions at Paddock and at Bottom Bend, I am getting a distinct rubbing noise from the front left of the car. The suspension is the usual M033 lowered but standard. Is this for the bin not too? If so, for day to day use and for the odd trackday, which is the best option?

I am happy to go any way with this as I reallly want to get the sloppiness out of the car as it is annoying me immensely. I will probably get stuff from Gert, but what?

And I do have a bit of a problem getting onto my drive as the exhaust tips scrape the ground witht a weeks shopping in the car......

Thanks in advance.

Edited to add that I HAVE read the technical page - thanks Maurice - but I want real world opinion from a number of users too.

Richard.

I assume they checked the bushes where the front anti-roll bar attaches to the body as this is the most common cause of the creaking you mention and is an easy fix that does not involve messing with the suspension.

Don't track the 993 so can't help with your second question regarding track use. For road use find M030 springs with HD Bilsteins and M030 anit-rollbars very good.

My car used to creak just the way you describe. This was attributed to the front wishbone bushes and also the front anti roll bar bushes. An easy way to check is to douse the bushes in WD40 or similar and see if the noise goes away temporarily. It comes back once the WD40 dries out.

I have a narrow body C4 that originally had the M033 suspension from the factory. I had M030 springs, anti roll bars and bilstein HD dampers fitted (along with new front wishbones). I posted my impressions of this set up some time ago. I would highly recommend it for road and occasional track use. My only reservations are that sometimes I wonder if I should have gone the "whol;e hog" and got PSS9s.

Thanks PP . This is my dilemna - do I do a bit or do I go the whole hog - PSS9/RS rollbars ? Who knows?
