Suspension M030 Upgrade

I've come across an original porsche OE suspension kit M030 for a reasonable price (apprx £600). The springs, dampers and anti-roll bars are all included. This will lower the ride height of the car by 10mm. My question is does anyone have this sports kit M030 on their car (either from new or as an upgrade), if so how does it compare to the standard suspension? I would like to have the suspension a little bit stiffer but not to lose the comfort of the ride. Or would it be better to go for a different make of shocks?

Grateful to hear your thoughts on this issue.

Many thanks, Peter

You can buy the M030 kit for the 986 brand new from Porsche for £582 including VAT. With PCGB discount.......???????

Part number: 000.044.500.06. Give your OPC a ring and see what they say.

I'll leave others to comment on the ride on a Boxster. I had M030 on my 996, and it was quite firm.

It is my understanding that the "sports suspension" on all 550 Anniversaries is the MO30 kit - so mine has that. Can't really offer much in the way of comparison, since I've only ever driven one other Porsche, that being a Cayman S with 19" wheels and no PASM. From that vehicle, I can confidently say that mine (on 18s and Pirelli PZero Rossos) is noticeably harsher.

Had it from new on my car.
Having driven other Boxsters without it I wouldn't be without it - HOWEVER - I am a complete nutter about being able to feel what the car is doing [;)]

The difference to me is this - my car corners flat. It does not dive and squat under braking/accelleration. The "standard" sprung cars I've driven do so markedly in comparison. Having said that most people would consider that the standard car is sprung sportily enough [:D]
The downside - It really is unpleasant on jiggly roads. Avoid potholes (you should anyway!) If you after comfort then this isn't the way to go.
My car is on 17" wheels. 18"s and above can be even worse with sport suspension.

All 3 recent Register Secretaries have had it from new on thier cars (Nic, John, myself) not sure if that says anything but we all love it.

I had a 550 special edition 986 and now have a 06 987 on 17" and the ride is far better on this ,even on normal road condition you felt all the uneven surfaces on the 550.

What he said! It does make a standard car feel like a boat. [:)]

Hi, Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like I might be investing in the M030. Does anyone know the best place to buy the kit that is possibly cheaper than what I've already found? Also, is it something you can fit yourself? I don't mind getting my hands dirty as long as it's reasonably straight forward.
Thanks.

If you can hold a spanner then you can fit it.

As Rodney advises once fitted get the geometry checked.

As much -ve camber as will go on and all four wheels pointing dead ahead.
