hi all,

so I am currently in the process of having the torsion bar removed as I am fitted coilovers for a lower ride height.

my friend who is doing the job as come across the problem of worn mounts and looks like we can't proceed without them being changed. I cant find any aftermarket parts and by the looks of it, Porsche want all of my money again!

Does anyone one have a set of useable ones that can tide me over until funds allow OEM replacements?

part numbers are below

944 331 076 00
944 331 075 00
477 501 089 (pair)

Items 6 & 12 on this diagram.

I cant see your diagram either but Pelican parts has the following listing:Spring Plate Bushings, OEM spec, 4 pcs Per Kit, Order 1 kit per car 944/924/951/968, (1976-1996)
$120.00
Part #: ER-2290023

These are listed as Elephant Racing products. Says OEM specs but does not say if they are rubber or Delrin or what...This would be US dollars so pretty reasonable but shipping might be a shocker...

OOPS! also found these at Lindsey Racing. Note these are rubber for sure - might want to check with them to see if they are "hard" or "soft" as per Porsche but these should maintain comfort.

Why take the torsion bars out? leave them in and re-index them, we did when we put the KW coil-overs on, the torsion bars provide location and strength but don't come into play at normal loadings.

The car is very low, by choice but it only runs on track.

Ground Control (USA) make a specific Rear coilover and Shear Bottom mount assembly

Ground Control designed rear lower shock mount. Machined from high carbon steel, and using a grade 8 bolt, this rear lower mount is designed to carry the weight of the car after springs are added to the shock.

We utilize a Koni monotube rear shock, adjustable for rebound damping. This shock is available in our standard default damping for standard width cars, or heavier damping for wider cars with higher spring rates. The Koni shock is mounted inverted for less unsprung weight, and features the exclusive GC coilover hardware with single-locking sleeve and your choice of Eibach race spring. The same kit is used to supplement rear torsion bars or by choosing a different spring rate, the rear torsion bars can be removed completely.

Vw3 type Three torsion bar rubbers are the same. Remove the old rubbers by cutting or burning them off the clean the whole thing and fit the VW rubbers. The whole back end is basically a VW air-cooled IRS set up with the addition of alloy arms. I'm lucky to have a very good air cooled vw specialist in my home town who is able to look at bits of my car and tell me which Vw part will fit.
