Suspension problems?

It may be that I've been spending too much time in new Range Rovers, etc... (work), but I am noticing the harshness of my suspension more lately (C4 with M030 + 18" GT3 wheels): It could be my imagination, or is it likely that something is worn / broken on a 78,000 mile car? Obvious suspect is shock absorbers, but they are not leaking and it passed its MOT about 5,000 miles ago with no problems/advisory items.

Does anyone know if there is anything that I might be able to see, or listen out for, or test to confirm all is OK (or otherwise)?

BTW I am a graduate mechanical engineer, so have good technical understanding.
